The addon allows the store administrator to control what access level different users have to the back-end functions. For this purpose a store administrator creates additional staff accounts as administrator users and defines roles for each staff member who needs access to the back-end functions. A user can have more than one role.

Here is the list of available roles:

  • Root access – means no restrictions at all;
  • Manage catalog – allows users having the role to edit the product catalog;
  • Manage users – gives users permissions to edit user profiles;
  • Manage administrators – gives users permissions to edit administrator profiles;
  • Manage orders – allows users to view orders, update order statuses, change products, make refunds, etc;
  • Manage import – allows importing products to the online store catalog;
  • Manage export – allows exporting the catalog;
  • Manage banners – allows uploading and configuring banners in your eCommerce website;
  • Allow unfiltered HTML - allows pasting the script code right inside the WYSIWYG areas in the static pages or product descriptions;
  • Manage news - allows adding, editing and removing news to the news section in the storefront;
  • Manage coupons – allows managing coupons;
  • Manage volume discounts - allows configuring discounts based on the total price of ordered products and customer's membership level;
  • Manage conversations - gives access to the messages that customers leave to their orders and allows chatting with them.

You can extend the list by creating custom add-ons or installing extensions from X-Cart Add-ons Marketplace.

For example, the Simple CMS addon (enabled by default) adds two more permission groups to the list:

  • Manage custom pages – allows users to create and edit custom website pages;
  • Manage menus – allows editing the primary menu and footer links.

Multi-vendor addon adds the following roles:

  • Manage vendor's catalog;
  • Manage vendor's orders;
  • Manage vendor's shipping settings.

    The permissions are way too broad and not customizable at all.
    You only have the ability to give much more access than needed and put your store at risk or not enough and accounts can't do what they need.
