Such segmentations give you ideas about how to increase your revenue. Below are three examples of such ideas.
Example 1. Find out which of your three email campaigns is the most successful.
- set up three different coupon codes - a coupon for each campaign;
- segment your sales by coupon code and see how much money each campaign drove to the store;
- calculate return-on-investment of each campaign.
Example 2. Segmentation of your sales by category shows that 80% of your revenue is driven by 3 categories, while 15 other categories generate only 20% of revenue.
It makes sense to review these 15 categories and think about why they are not that successful.
Example 3. Segmentation of your sales by category shows that you have more and more orders from China from month to month.
In this case you might want to find cheaper international shipping to China and increase your sales there even further.
